More potential VIII or IX engine?

First off let me say that I am very familiar with the 4g63t power plant having owned 3 DSMs. I do know that the IXs respond better to early mods, but does it offer diminishing returns as compared to the VIII? In other words, can the VIIIs ultimately handle more power?, and if so is this based on the limits of the MIVEC component of the IX? Also, what other engine/drivetrain differences are there between the two models pertaining to power capacity or lack thereof? And, to any of you that have owned both a VIII and a IX, did you notice that big of a difference, or rather was it that much of a difference to justify the extra ~6k I'll have to spend to get the IX? I know this is alot of questions, but hopefully this will make my decision to buy this weekend an easier one, and one without regret.

The only reason is, the XIII has been out so long, it has been tested over and over again. Once the IX begins the same tests, I believe it should created more power then the XIII.

it's a same potential. Only difference you can get closer to 400 whp with less money and mods with the 9.
