clutch

well i know the evos clutches wear out pretty fast, so im looking for a new clutch to buy in the next couple weeks just so i have one when its time to replace. anyway there are so many clutch choices and i dont know which one is the one for me and how i drive. so maybe you guys could point me in the right direction....

ok well i have a evo IX MR and its my daily driver, so i want something that engages smooth. but on the weekends i do like to have fun. so i want something that will hold the abuse of launches. i want a clutch that also has a good lifespan.

any suggestions?
thanks

Agreed, Exedy clutches are nice. I have the stage 2 ceramic disk. I have put 23K on it so far.

Cerametallic, not ceramic. I thoroughly enjoyed the stg2 4-puck, also.

now my friend has a 4 puck clutch in his car, its not an evo, but it engages like suddenly and it doesnt look like a good clutch for a daily driver....maybe its different in an evo tho

Puck style discs in general tend to offer harsher engagement than an organic disc will. This topic has been covered a few times but the answer really depends on the intended use. If smooth engagement is more of a priority over drag strip performance, a clutch with an organic disc sounds like a better choice for you.

If you plan on visiting the strip and you're willing to compromise on the engagement ,a puck style disc will hold up to more abuse than the organic disc will. There is no one size fits all aproach IMO and there are compromises involved depending on your choice.
