Anyone have any regrets with 5-speed

Yo yo,

Just picked up a IX SE a little over a month ago. I LOVE 6-speeds.. however, I went with the 5-speed just because I heard of some issues with the 6-speed from members, owners, and the a couple of Mitsu dealers...

I will be mossing my EVO probably to 400 AWHP Maximum.
I will not track or drag my car.

I cruise on the freeway probably 2 hours per week and I REALLY dont like how 5th gear is SO LONG in the 5-speed. Is there anything that can be done about this like changing the gearset? Did I make a bad choice by getting the 5-speed instead of the 6-speed I wanted originally?

Thanks for any info.

**** no. 5 Speed is way better than 6 speed anyday bro. But if you want to look cool with your 6-speed, go for it, but don't whine when your 4th gear die.

In the end, you should be very happy with your choice. Driving on the freeway utilizing 6th gear all the time, means that you probably made the wrong choice in vehicles.. Regardless of your decision of Drag or Track, you'll probably find that your 5spd will be better utilized in a city driving environment that a 6spd.. Good luck either way.. Its an EVO...

I do.

In retrospect I should have either purchased a stripped MR or an RS.

YMMV.
