Newbi ? about racing gas
you can run race gas stock.. just gonna have to tune it...
you can have a tuner flash you with ecuflash on your stock evo using race gas.. uh uhmm.. "Al" and then save the map on your laptop.. and have you flash back to your stock map.. but might *** well ask him to give you a base flash on pump.. bump up the boost, give you a lil 2 step to play with.. etc etc etc..
This way you'll be a step above stock in the meantime you plan or save for mods later.. have fun.. and in organized uhm uhm.. competitive sprints.. flash your car with that race gas map.. add the fuel mix.. and let it rip..
All though is not gonna be an amazing diff but is gonna be there..
I dnt know about your cat or 02 sensor thought.. might suffer some abuse but your car will be ok.. ther's nothing a 80 dollar or less sensor from napa cnt fix.. and a 30bux test pipe.. or a 200dollar HFC.. your choice.. nothing wrong with your thoughts dude.. is just that ppl expect for you to have several mods to run race gas..
I've seen ppl run it on the 1.5 SOHC civics.. and again.. there having fun.. and they beat stock rx-8's/v6 stangs etc etc..

Running leaded race fuel will damage your cat and O2 sensors so just be careful what you buy. In regards to octane boosters -- most of them are a complete waste of time and many have additives that will cause problems too. I do, however, believe that Torco might be one of the exceptions.
Do a quick search as there are a couple huge threads on this.
