Idle problem with open air filter

Just wanted to know if its true that a open air filter design like the ARC unit would cause Idle problems? I have heard mixed reviews about this subject.

In most cases an open air filter without being properly tuned for it will cause problems.

The Air that comes in past an open air filter will be chaotic, unlike the air through the air box, it messes with the MAF sensor. In effect it makes the car think that there is more air coming in than there actually is, and your ECU tries to compensate by dumping more fuel. This in turn actually causes you to lose power.

If you use the search function and search for Intakes you will find this hundreds of times.

FYI - the people who do not experience problems with open air filters and are not tuned for it, just don't realize that they have a problem b/c they are so caught up with the woosh sound their BOV makes.

Its all over the forum. guys say that its not a good idea to upgrade the intake into a cold air intake desing. I think you have to tune the car to not have problems. But the other day a sale repesentitive from buscher racing told me that I should not have a problem. So im confused.

I believe the Cold air intake can only be fit on cars without HID lights.
