Evo Noob questions

Hey, I just bought a 06 Evo SE couple weeks ago. I am pretty much a noob on car stuff. I got a couple questions if anyone can help.

First question. I went to get a blow off valve for first weekend I got the car and was told about the stalling a blow off valve does on a Evo and was talked out of getting on. Than I was searching around the works website and seen this, a duel vent valve

http://www.worksevo.com/store/produc...products_id=34

Does anyone have this for their Evo? Does it work?

Second question, so when I went that weekend to get the blowoff valve and was talked out of it, instead I got a Helix down pipe and cat delete (Which I am still waiting on) But after I bought these parts I went home to read about them and seen that they are either off road only or not for use on highway.

So just wondering why that is? Is it just a save there but kind of thing. I work about 45 mins from my house, so 6 days a week I drive my Evo on the highway for about an hour and 45 mins daily.

Third question, whats the best intake to get? I was told perin (my friend has for his Sti and knows cars) but I am not a big fan of how the perin intake looks, but if its by far the best I will get it.

Thanks in advance and I am so exited to join the Evo community.

I'll tell you right now, the first thing people on here are going to do is tell you to do a search. For once, I actually agree with that because there are tons and tons of threads about all the questions you asked.

1. Yes the dual vent BOV works, but you don't need it. The stock one is fine for you now.

2. The downpipe and cat delete are fine for being driven on the street, but depending on where you live, it might be illegal to have modified exhaust. That's the way it is here in Virginia.

3. As far as intakes are concenred, you don't need one of those either because you're not gonna really see a difference. Just throw in a K&N drop in filter and be happy.

Welcome to the community and enjoy your evo.

I don't own an evo but I'll try my best. If you get a blow-off valve as your first mod, people will make fun of you on here and label you a ricer. Until you start running higher PSI or a bigger turbo you don't need to upgrade. The reason why the down pipe and cat delete are labeled as "off-road only" is to protect the manufacturer's ***. After you install those you won't technically pass emissions (at least I don't think you will) and they are technically illegal. The best intake is subjective. Everyone has one brand they like and will stand by to the end. If you get an intake you need a tune otherwise you'll be making less power than you are stock.

number one: there is a newbie forum, why is this here?

number two: you have a lot of searching/learning to do.

number three: anytime you remove the stock cat from an exhaust and replace it with anything else it is illegal

number four: I should have been a lot meaner
