You can do it with a test pipe and boost control (stock, manual bc or electronic bc)

There really is no need for an intake or full exhaust.

I made 298 with a test pipe, intake (probably not necessary) and 21.5psi. Everything else stock.

I made 306 with a fuel pump (not necessary)

The rest is in the tuning.
I'm not a fan of mail-in tuning. I have seen some pretty bad tunes... but to each his own.

I've got a 3" APS TBE, and a APS BOV. As well as an E-Bay FMIC, and a PWR Rad.

Going to be getting a MBC soon myself, and later a fuel pump. Then a flash.

The MBC and pump wont be installed till the week of the flash though, that way I can save up for the flash.

I've been looking at the Hallman MBC's for ~87. Lancershop has them.

It's amazing how much bullcrap that simply gets repeated over and over again on this site.

300 whp should be achievable pretty quickly, but will vary based on your vehicle, location, and tune that you choose to go with.

A turbo-back and MBC and tune will not give you an instant 330hp, in fact those that guarantee it are simply using it as a marketing tool. It's probable, but not guaranteed.

Just start modding the car with the basic supporting mods, and you should hit your goal in short time. Numbers vary from place to place (dyno to dyno) -- so to me a better means of testing is to take the car to the track. Use the dyno as a tuning tool and to get a grasp on the improvement from one stage to the next.

Oh...and BTW...the fuel pump doesn't give you more HP, it just allows for a higher fuel flow. Simply sticking a 255 walbro in your car won't do squat.

YOU DON'T NEED A FUEL PUMP!!! For 300HP on a IX Fuel pump will work just fine!!! But the Buschur Racing and Warrtalon's package is the best thing you can go with!!!

Edit: Here's Warritalon EVO Package...
Warrtalon/Buschur Packages:
IX - $1270 = 330whp
VIII - $1575 = 300whp
12.26 @110.0 - 93oct WT/BR

Last edited by LilRico; May 5, 2007 at 11:17 PM. Reason: Adding Warritalon EVO Package

people really freak out around here.
1270 is quite a lot for an exhaust, a boost controller, an autometer gauge and a flash.

You can buy an ebay turboback for 300
a boost controller for 30 bucks
an autometer gauge for 80 bucks
and a mail-in flash for 50-100

It's true you don't "need" a fuel pump. It offers no performance benefit but it's 80 bucks and it offers you piece of mind.

If you log a stock map, with stock pump you'll see injector duty cycle is pretty high.

While I know that a fuel pump isn't a "Have-to" mod for the very early stages, I feel that it's a good peace of mind mod, and for $80....

And thanks for the link on the Dejon. I'll check it out!
