Fouled plugs? need help
I have searched unsuccessfully and need some help. My stock '06 MR wouldn't start this morning. It turned over fine, and started to fire, and then died as if the fuel was cut off. This same thing happened in December and they cleaned the plugs and the car ran fine. I can't afford for this to continue, I need a reliable car for work. My dealer claims this is common with "finicky" Evo's. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have a long-term solution for this? Thanks in advance for any help.
No cel's. When it happened in December i was leaving for a 5 day business trip and had to cab to the airport. when i got back it started and i drove immediately to the dealership where they determined the plugs were fouled.
1.) Check for any vacuum/boost leaks.
2.) Check for good fuel pressure
3.) Check to see if the plugs are actually sparking. Disconnect one of the plug wires and connect it to a spare plug you have lying around. Have someone crank the car and see if it actually sparks (make sure it is grounded!)

How many miles on the current set of plugs?
If they are fairly new, less than 15,000 miles, then they should not be giving you trouble.
* May be it was some bad gasoline that you got that is causing the problem.
* If you use any type of fuel boosters, they will shorten the life of the plugs.
* Once you clean a set of used plugs, they will fault quicker after that.
Buy a new set of plugs and put them in, if the problem continues after this, take it to the dealer. Keep your receipt for proof you replaced the plugs, the date and time stamped on it will show when you did this.
Good luck.

As much as I hate to admit this, I ran my stock plugs for 48k miles and ran 100% meth on them for about 15k. I recently changed them from an 8 to a 7 but actually didn't notice any difference. I dont think the plugs is your problem, but more of either fuel, do you have a pressure guage? or a grounding issue. If thats the case good luck.

Did they let you see these plugs?
Plugs just don't "foul" for nothing usually its oil in the chamber which fouls out a plug and I'd be just a tad concerned. Either that or your running possibly the worst gas I can dream of full of contaminates.
What were the plugs gapped to also?
