There is a change in the Checksum, that dose show a change to the ECU. Most dealers do not check this, usless there's been a catastrophic failure like a blown motor. If you modify you ECU, there is a posibility it can be detected, but the percentage is small.
Newbie03evo: what they are saying is if your car is running really rich (As they do from the factory) like 10:1 or so and you drive the same before and after the tune, it will cause you to pick up better mpg.
Think of it this way, for the time that you are in boost, in order to make more power with a tune the afr's should be in the range of about 11.0-11.8 or so, depending on mods. Therefore, you will be using less gas after the tune while in boost, than you were before the tune. It is very simple to see that your gas mileage will increase (So long as your driving style does not change).
You don't need hardcore facts on this one since it is so easy to understand the principle......

not sure yet mellon ttp or jestr. any imput on people flashing the ecu. Mellon had talked to me alot about what he has to offer. I have a greddy exhaust and a k&n drop in. (also a tt). that is all i am going to do because of the warr nt. so the more imput i can get from you guys the better.

correct, in your situation it would be best to get the new parts installed and send some logs and the stock tune. The link in my sig explains the process in detail but let me know if you have any questions
