I believe the 9's actually started as the 05 models.

Sold in 05, marked as 06 models.

Kinda like the evo X being sold in 2007, but being labeled as the 2008 model.

IX's were a 2006 model only. So 1 year of production is all which is nice for owners because they will become more rare and probably hold there value more then the VIII's.
