There are gains to be made, however not nearly as much as would be seen on lt1/lt4 or the 4.6

If you do a search you will find the pros and cons. BTW its an exhaust manifold not a header for the evo.

if you're thinking about getting an EVO, it would be an odd first mod. The stock turbo back exhaust is pretty bad especially when you raise the boost up a bit.

you can port the stocker that way it wont crack, the megan racing is a reasonably priced header though and pretty durable

many people seem to have a problem with the megan manifold cracking. you are better off porting the stock manifold. the only "header" that will yield more gains on the stock turbo is the full-race manifold that goes for almost a grand...

porting the stocker will get you slightly better gains, and you wont loose the down low torque

this is the way i look at it...
if you by the megan mani for $225, look at it as a loaner while you get your stocker ported and coated and all that good stuff.
now when the megan mani cracks(if it cracks) you got a ported and coated stocker to throw on

i have had a megan on for about 8 long and hard months and no signs of cracking yet, plan on getting the stock one ported and coated soon but keep putting it off.

p.s. if you buy the megan do NOT use the gaskets they supply re use the stock or buy new stock ones!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are way more mods you can do for a first mod...that will probably show you more of a gain than that one. But it couldnt hurt either way. Youre gonna need a tune to see any results from it though.

if you port the stocker or get the megan youll need to get a 10.5 hotside and stainless o2 housing to achieve worthwhile gains
