I know the shifting is a little notchy, but I felt a little something different today. When putting the car into first, it felt like it was rubbing against something on the left. the best way to describe it would be like a rachet or like when you rub your finger along a row of numbers on a remote? It wasn't strong enough that it was resisting the shifter, but I could still feel it. Any ideas?

I'm assuming you felt the gears mesh together. that's the best i can tell from your description.

just a fyi, don't go into first gear unless you're at a near dead stop.
