Oil leak from plate on the oil pan?

I have a small leak and it looks to be coming from where the plate meets the oil pan. Has anyone had this happen to them before?

You mean that bottom riveted piece? You might have to either weld them together to seal all the opening or replace the pan.

Yes, I meant the piece riveted to the bottom. I wonder what caused this problem. It has never come in contact with anything and my car justed hit 34,000 miles.

what i would do clean the area where you see the oil, go couple miles and check it again, does it leak alot? any oil spots on the ground? if its from the area you're refering to, you need new seal.

I had this problem I think. Dealership couldn't find where it was leaking from after re-sealing it so they replaced the pan and that stopped it.

I dont think that area has any type of seal on it. Its just a metal plate riveted onto the bottom of the oilpan. I dont think he's referring to the gasket between the pan and engine.

I cleaned it, drove it and checked again. No leak. It must be very small or just a coincidence that it leak. Maybe I spilled oil somewhere and it dripped from there. I have no clue. I will keep an eye on it and see if it comes back. If it comes back, do you think some selant around the plate would help?

Thanks
