Defi Gauge Install--gauges work intermittently

Hey all,
Bought an IX about three weeks ago, just got back from a trip and now I'm getting it all prepared for the drive up to Seattle (I'm moving). So, the previous owner had a defi gauge set (boost, pressure, temp), but only hooked up the boost. I ran the wires and installed the pressure and temperature sensors by the oil filter yesterday. On a long drive I took in the afternoon, the gauges quit working for a while; they read 0, and didn't to the power on self-test sweep, so I thought one of my power wires had disconnected. Later that evening, however, when I started the car the gauges worked just fine. Any ideas? Is this normal behavior?

wire could have gotten bumped on the drive and then bumped back later? you have a good solid ground?

Grounded to the same spot my new head unit is, and the head unit was working fine, so that should have been ok...
