high mileage 8

I have a 2003 VIII that gets at least 60 miles put on it a day, most of it highway. Right now it's at about 72k miles. What is the life expectancy of the drive line for this thing?

About a month or two ago I detected some play in the front end drive while doing some brake work. This morning I heard and felt some low frequency rumble that could be tire related. The rumble only shows up at highway speeds, I'm going to try to have it looked at tomorrow. The vibration isn't that severe, but I'm wondering what else it could be.

I spent 30 more miles with my vibration problem that cropped up for the first time today. It shows up at about 55-ish mph and gets much more severe at about 70mph. It a dull low rumble with the cadence of a hovering helicopter, and operates at wheel speed. I'm hoping that I may have thrown a wheel balance weight, I'm going to have it checked out tomorrow morning. I have a feeling that it's something else, probably pricey.

Anyone ever have this problem before, what did it turn out to be?

I know of several 90K + high horsepower Evos. If taken care of this engine will last. But abused it's like any other teen machine.

depends on how the car was treated.

an evo with 100k miles on it could have a drive line in better shape than one with 500 miles on it.

Try a wheel alignment to get rid of the vibration. It will also help the life of the tire increase.

I put the car on a lift this morning and the vibration cause stood right out. The rear left had a tire bubble clearly caused by a broken belt. The tire defect is covered under warranty, only they have to go out and get my tire from a different location. I may be lucky to get the car back today.
