I have just bought a 03 evo VIII. i am still new to these cars and wood like ne help or suggestions to fix this car up, also i am in northern cali and if u no some 1 around these parts that is knowlegdable with evos that would be great
the pervious owner had a couple parts intstalled:
a cat back
an HKS bov
and an A&E air filter
he also has had the ECU flashed for contunius boost ( i do not know wat this means, ne 1 care to explain?)
like i a said im still new, but ne help will be greatly appricited.

First you need to ask what is your goal? Then ask yourself what can you afford, then decide what you really need.

-ECU stands for engine control unit. It is bascially a pc that runs the motor. 'ECU flashed for contunius boost' probably means that the boost taper was removed. Stock ECUs or roms have the boost taper at the high end of the RPM range. Check the treads on ECU Flash to learn more about modifying the stock rom.

When you have it flashed, it means someone messed with the parameters on the ecu, like fuel, timing, boost levels, etc...

I would suggest a downpipe for your next part, but there are many more. If money is not object, you can buy a fully built motor and turbo. If your like me, you can't afford that.

More parts that you could buy for more power: cams; cam gears; valve springs; retainers; valves; turbo; intercooler; stand alone ecu; etc...

Works; gruppe s; and vishnu are some tuners in near the bay area.

Is this your first boosted car?
What is your whp goal?

 

Finding a reputable garage in your area would be the first step.
