OZ vs EVO7

hi guys,

its my first post here, im still a newbie who is planning to buy a car.
please feel free to give any advice and also suggestions.

im trying to choose either to buy a OZ or an EVO7, of course for god sake i would buy a evo7, but after considering the price and the cost for the insurance, would be a wise thing to do if i buy an OZ and have it modify!

i know that the OZ is not powerful enough(130hp), is it possible to get around 200HP on the OZ WITHOUT any major changes such as adding the turbo as it will viod the warranty?

And say if it is possible, would the cost of getting the OS around 200HP similar with getting the evo7? i know that the evo7 would be uunder $30000.

Thank you,

uhm well...if you get an evo 7 at msrp id bet that itll still come out to over 30k after taxes and all that other crap. and yah insurance will be like 3x as much...uhm theres no way u can get the oz to 200 hp without a turbo thats within a reasonable amount of money......building a n/a motor to 200 with 120 stock is gonna be a lot of money...and this could void ur warranty as well depending on the parts you use...so either way ur screwed...but i guess if money is an issue the oz with a turbo is good...pretty cool sleeper as well...

At this point in time I'd probably say go with the Evo.

The aftermarket on the Lancer isn't amazingly good. Getting up to 200hp in the OZ w/ bolt-ons from RMR doesn't seem possible to me at this point, nor would it seem lucrative. You'd be paying A LOT of $$$ to be having parts that wouldn't void the warranty.

I don't know....then again...I don't have an OZ, so anybody who actually DOES...feel free to chime in.

oh and getting a 200 hp oz will be much much cheaper than an evo...probly about 9 to 10 grand cheaper....figure about 17k for an oz? then a turbo kit for 3 to 4k and other misc parts needed. so probly 22k total for oz tuned on dyno with a turbo and all that other crap u put on like exhaust intake etc...bolt ons.

It would be quite an achievement to get the OZ to output 200HP and keep it NA (without the use of turbo). But it's going to require some major upgrades and mods to get that baby to push any kind of figures around 170HP and up. Bolt on parts can only do so much. The RMR is pushin around 155HP and its still NA so thats a good start.

Don't forget that the Evo will be paid for monthly while the mods on an OZ will be additional and will require credit card, cash, or a loan. If RMR came out with a turbo that you could buy from a dealer installed and paid for monthly, that would be the best.

hi guys,

thank you all for the REALLY quick reply!

to KK: so RMR is goin to launch a turbo kit? and it is still possible to have it installed by the dealer and still under the warranty? what is the rough guess on the HP after the turbo?

to Plastikpyro: you mention that the best RMR could do is around 155HP, what kinds of modifications is needed for this by the way?

and 2 stupid question i would like to ask is: what is torque? what does it represent?
and what could have been done to improve the acceleration? i mean when you hit accelarate pedal and release it just when you want to change gear, there seems to be a loss in the power.

I wont be using the OZ for drag or rally, do you think it is fine to have OZ with 155? of course i want to have a fast car but do you think it is enough? most cars such as accords, toyota have around 200 with their V6.

and how come "loneelymee", a registered member in this forum that own an OZ that tries to sell his spare tire and passenger seats is able to win againts accords and toyotas??

Thank you for answering my stupid questions

Then you'd have a 200hp Lancer on a stock suspension. I see how everyone is complaining about torue steer on the stock lancer...imagine the torque steer on a 200hp lancer It'll be much. much cheaper to just get an evo when it comes here.

Just remember with the insurance...they think you have a stock lancer, get in a wreck, they find out you have a 200hp lancer, your gonna be in some pretty deep ****.

lets not forget that you cannot compare a car in one class to a car in another. its just like that guy a while back bagging on the lancers and saying how much faster and how better his porsche handles. well no ****.
if you want a differnt class car that you will end up spending just as much money for aftermarket parts go with the evo 7. if you want a good looking car that is really a solid deal that you can enjoy working on go with the O-Z. i knew when i bought the lancer that i wouldnt be racing wrx's and type r integra's. i knew that i could build my car and fight some civics and ****. cars in my class that are doing the same thing.

its apples and oranges. you want a high end or a mid range. you want a 30k car or a 18k car.

half the fun of the import scene is waiting purchasing and installing aftermarket parts. you want fast now go buy a porsche.
