HKS SSQ BOV or not
HKS SSQ BOV or not
hey guys i have a evo 9 mr with a 20g turbo and a apexi afc neo with a street tune on it and i was curious if a new bov would mess up my idle because some people told me it does... i also have a tsudo tbe and am planning to get GSC stage 1 cams and a turbo timer within a month.
Or should i get one of the ones that dumps into the intake and into the atmosphere

if you have the Stock plastic BOV that comes on the 03 and 04 evos .. than you should consider a JDM MR BOV
if you have the Steel Bov which normally comes on the MR models and also 06 Evo IX .. than no need to change the BOV because the steel bov can hold up a bit over 25 psi.

All you need is turboback, intake, tune, meth and you are set. I would aslso recommend an 02 housing, exhaust manifold, larger intercooler and intercooler pipes. The cams will yield some power too but none of them have produced numbers for me to jump on them just yet. I would get all the bolt on done first.
Just stay with the recirc. BOV, this subject has been beaten to death and I learned my leason after going back the recirced, it just drives so much better...like it should drive.
I have the HKS SSQV ver.2 Evo specific with recirc kit and the car runs fine and holds boost well. I'm not sure why everyone bashes it but in multiple magazines this BOV has held boost with the best of them. If you want sound to blow off at ppl then get another one.
