HELP! on parts
Well first of all i am new to the forums and i am new to the Evo. I own a Evo IX SE. I have asked around my local shops about what parts can i get for my car, such as just the basic bolt on. Exhaust, headers, BOV, cold air intake and some other things. First of all these parts would all seem simple in a standard honda civic just bolt them on, but what one shop told me was that I had to get an AEM standalone which is like $1500before i did anything. because with even the slightest modification of even an exhaust my car would begin to run like crap. It sounds to me like a scam. Now if that is what it takes then fine, but i want to start of slow when I am modding my car. if i don't have to spend the $1500 right away I wont. i do understand that eventually i might have to, but if i don'thave to now then what the hell. the most confusing part is two people i know have a greddy BOV and HKS exhaust, and cold air intakes on the EVO IX's and they do not seem to be expierancing these problems. Can someone please let me know what the real deal is. O and also are there any credible tuner shops that deal with the EVO in Florida. Thanks!
You dont need a AEM to mod your car, a simple flash on your ECU will do. Dont mess with a intake and bov those are useless for you right now. Get a 3 inch exhaust turbo back, cams and a mbc then get the flash on your ecu before you drive it. Look up Jester, tt-p engineering.
That shop has no idea what they are talking about. Granted it is wise to get a tune after any upgrade but not essential. My brothers evo had full turbo back exhaust, intake and a couple of other parts without a tune and it ran fine. A stand alone like an AEM EMS is ridiculous for a stock evo.
