Question ES vs OZ Rally

Hi,

I am going to be purchasing a new 2003 Lancer in the next week or so however I am unsure of which model to go for. I know you are paying quite a bit more to get the OZ Rally however the main cost is for the Rims and Spoiler I believe. Now to me the 15" Rims are to small and I would probably be upgrading them down the road so do you think I would be better off just going with the base model? Also do you think ABS is really needed on a car like this? I do plan on modifying down the road.

Thanks.

hmm if i had to do it all over again i would get an OZ manual with no wing.

Reasoning: I am gonna change the wing anyways and the interiror on the OZ is nicer (better color in my opinion). As for the rims I agree and the body kit that comes on it may get replaced too. If you plan on a new body kit, rims and such go es else look into the OZ I like mine alot.

O-Z = Gauge Cluster, Rear Sway Bar, Rims, Body Kit, Better Interior compared to the ES.

ES = Ugly Gauge Cluster, No Rear Sway, Hub Caps, No Body Kit, Ugly Interior.

I'd have the O-Z anyday just by looking in the interior. But that's just me and my opinion.

Isn't ABS only avail on the LS? IMO if you're good enough to modify the car for power and speed, then you need to be a good enoguh driver to not really need ABS.

you also forgot about the suspension. the suspension on the OZ is far more superior to the ES. id go with the OZ

If you're not going to spend that much money on the interior, then the stock OZ interior is far better. ES/LS have the crappy generic family sedan grey or beige interior, while OZ has all black, with leather wrapped steering wheel.

The rally gauges were a big thing for me too, got tired of the plain vanilla ones on the old Civic.

As far as ABS goes, it's one of only two options on the OZ, the other being sunroof.

Sorry, I'm in Canada, the same things might not apply.

Ive got an 2003 O.Z Rally I bought 4 months ago.. And.. I've thought since that maybe I should've gone for a es/ls to lower my payments, ecta.. but.. Ive got the yellow O.Z and.. Ive got all the O.Z features and the moonroof and I love my car coz it's.. well.. it's stylin' lol If you're really worried about budget go with a es/ls but Im glad i paid the obsence amount

I'd have to agree with everyone about the OZ.

More features =
Better style =
Cost =

If you are really worried about cost than go with the base model. You can fix 'em both up. However, the OZ looks more fixed up just because of the rims and the wing. My opinion go with the OZ.

hm... juss hook up the ES and spend the money u save and buy better stuff aftermarket for cheaper, aftermarket rims, wing, cf dash kit helps the interior a lot if u git a good one. But ye... gauges are lame grrrr

I agree with dragonlancer, I went with the es because I'd rather do everything to my car myself, and at a cheaper price I might add. Just seems like its more MY car if I start base and add from there. Up here in canada, just for the OZ lip kit they want like $2400. The difference between the 2 cars here is almost $8000 I think. With that much money you can do a LOT to a car.

I have to disagree with everyone on the guages and interior though. I like the stock ES ones just peachy. I don't want a super flashy/import car. hehe sorry
