EVO Noobi from Louisiana
EVO Noobi from Louisiana
Hello everyone. I just bought an 03. Its white w/52K. I was into DSM's big time back in the mid-90's. Even tho I got rid of my 97 GSX In 01, I have always wanted another 4G63. Took a few yrs but here it is!!!
I got it off the Transport truck at like 2 in the morning Sat. just as we was coming in from partying and racing all night. Here are some shots after only minutes of getting the car.

A plug for my friend James Supra

moved over to the Garage for better light

A shot at the local Car Forum BBQ a few hrs later

I suggest these mods:
fuel pump
turbo back exhaust
manual boost controller
boost gauge
air filter
and when you're done, let me tune it to extract the power, the stock tune is horrible. I have a link in my sig that explains the process and software/hardware required. I recently added a video tutorial to make it even easier.
after those mods:
cams
fmic
02 housing
ported exhaust
injectors
turbo
fuel pump

manual boost controller

air filter

It has some mods on it. It has a HKS EVC, HKS Super AFR, & looks to be a 3in exhaust from the turbo w/no cat. Intake and BOV. I don't really know enough about these cars to tell if it has anything else on it. What should I look for?

Welcome Greg! nice to see you in the Evo world. hope you can get your car where it should be. a little diagnostics and tuning will do the job fine. you won't be dissapointed. all around an amazing automobile, period. did you ever get in touch with a shop or tuner yet?

i remember that car. i rode in it once when the guy who traded it in owned it. that guy couldn't drive for ****. he went through more than one clutch in the short time he had it. i raced him more than once...beat his ***...good times lol. a buddy of mine that is a mechanic at billy navarre looked at buying that car but he said the guy ****ed something up with the tuning and the car was running funny. glad to see the car is in better hands now.

ah don't sweat it, when I bought my car, it wouldn't move because the clutch was completely worn out, the tires were bald... I'm guessing the guy was doing donuts before he traded it in.
15k of racing later and it's perfectly fine, these cars are tough as nails.

question though, right after you bought it, did you drive it around lake charles for a while? i saw it rolling with billy navarre plates and a car load of people.
lol well i didn't mean it like that. i rode with the guy before tho back in 04. let's just say he seemed to be new to this whole "manual transmission" thing. he just recently fudged up his wheels like that lol car still looks good though.

I put the car in the back of the garage and kinda forgot about it too.
No, I did not drive around Laffy. Prolly was Billy Navari's sales people or something before I bought it.
and yes, it does need a tune bad and the oil seal was out on the turbo when I bought it, thats why I parked it up and have never driven it. But I bought the IX turbo in the classifieds yesterday so I'm ready to get this thing on the road soon.
What is the closest shop that is vastly experienced with Evo's and have a good
rep that I can have get this thing back in top shape?
