Talking Newbie in Town

Hello all,
I never thought I'd buy an Evo until two weeks ago. I had to think really hard because I didn't want to let go of my Lexus GS. I read a lot of good stuff about the Evo that helped me make my decision too. I use to have a 91 MR2 with a JDM motor. I did tons of mods in that car but it wasn't fast enough. I found another MR2 but it had a bad motor and won't run. I thought to myself that why should I buy another MR2 when I'll spend at least $20K to make it as fast as a stock Evo. First time I test drive my EvolNinja... don't ask me why I came up with that name but I fell in love with it. It just don't have that pssssssh sound like my exMR2 turbo. Anyways, I'm loving my Evol.

Questions for you guys out there, will it wise to install an aftermarket BOV? Performance wise, will it be the same, worst than stock BOV or better? Your input is greatly appreciated. Thanks much!

Leave the stock one on. Oops you have an VIII, get a stock IX bypass or one that recircs.

Get a Forge recirculating valve (RS or Evo) and slam a cone filter and you'll get the sound you wish for, without affecting your car's management system. The Evo's ECU management relies on the air that the BOV usually blows out in the atmosphere in other cars.. If you buy a normal BOV that pishhes out in the air, you'll have problems in your idle and low end pickup.. Enuf said!

We recommend the Stock IX as it is metal and not plastic like our stock VIII's are.

Or you can get the APS dual vent port like mellon and I.

Thumbs up Thanks

It's me again,
Just want to thank you guys for the quick response. Boy, there's a lot of good How To's in here. I'll rely a lot on it because I tend to do most of the minor upgrade myself except Tuning the major items. Thanks again!
