you posted a Evo vs STI question in an Evo forum. I think you will get mostly good feedback for Evos. Anyways, I driven both and the Evo is the way to go. The STI is just plain fugly.

I was in the same dilema you are in.

Simply put, do you plan on getting some serious mods? Evo is the clear choice if so. More power per dollar, and it handles better.

If you are going to keep it pretty much stock, the STI would be the better DD.

Some good posts here!

I +1 the comments that the Evo is better in the handling department out of the box, and the 4G63 is bulletproof as long as the maintenance is kept up and ill-informed hands don't mess with it. Honestly they're both great cars, I've driven both, own neither [yet], but my money would go to an Evo as I value the handling precision over the extra whiff of comfort the STI offers.

Good luck!

Both cars are amazing. The Suby community is nice, very active and maybe more social. The Evo community is a little more race oriented and a bit less likely to want to all get together, hold hands and sign songs.

I could go on and on about the slight edges each car has in which area but honestly... they are dead nuts close and it's splitting hairs.

Find the car that fits you better and go with it as you can't go wrong with either. If I were to buy a Suby I would most likely go for an 05 STI and if an Evo I would go for a non MR 06.

I own both a 06 MR and a 06 STI. I prefer the Evo but suggest that you drive both of them.

+1 on the boxer sound. I love the way they sound...and I respect the car, but the evo IMO is in a class itself. Everyone has given good feedback, and I was in the same quandary as you back in March, but I loved the evo for a long time and after driving both, the evo seemed to fit my needs better.

g/l w/ your decision.

ive had 2 sti's..both went to crap for no reason.. If you are to get a sti. Do not get an 07 sti without an IMMEDIATE pro tune.. Even if your bone stock.. But to avoid all problems... Get an evo ix

As previously stated, wherever you post this question, on a Scooby or an evo site most people will tell you to get the car they drive. Since we are on an evo site, you should understand that their will be some favoritism. I will tell you why I chose the evo over the wrx. I live in Dc Maryland, a fairly urbanized area. I am on the road everyday and seldom see an evo. I can not say the same thing about subis. I don’t like to own what everyone else has, but If you enjoy constantly waving to people that are sitting in the exact same car as you, then the subi is your best bet. Secondly, for the most part, I am a conservative drive, except when I have a good song playing and I feel like getting a little wind in my hair. With the evo, I can drive like a granny and keep the rpm’s below 3k, lay off the boost, conserve gas and enjoy the ride. Or, I can run the turbo and glue myself to the seat all the way to redline. Unlike the subs that pulls hard from low rpm’s and drops power at redline. And last but not least, the looks, the evo has much better cosmetics. The body frame looks just about the same as the subi except the hideous hood scoop, headlights and brake lights. Subi has made some improvement to the visual appeal of the headlights over the years, but the brake lights have not changed at all. But this is all personal preference, you should buy what makes you happy. You are the one that has to drive it, as well as pay for it. Good luck.
