Tuned by Mellon today,...wow!
I am a noob. Bought my '05 MR a few months ago, had bald tires, so while I was figuring tires to use, (Thanks suspension thread!) my car was up in the air. During this time, put in a fuel pump, MBC, intercooler and the BuschurTBE with test pipe. The exhaust is more quiet than I expected, and fittment and ease of install was great. Drove from St. Louis to Memphis for a road tune with Chris at Mellon. The transformation was amazing, my mods were a nice foundation but without the tune, the potential was totally untapped. The power is up to over 290whp, but the response is so crisp that it fels like a new car. MPG was up to 26 on the way home, average speed 88-90mph. This was the best spent $ so far, Thanks Chris! Next is cams! Thanks for the great info on the site, Can't wait to meet some of these evoManiacs in person, St. louis people lets get a meet together! I love this car!
Glad to hear you received a good tune. There are many people satisfied with Mellon's service and quality of work. I know you purchased the Evo a couple months ago but I noticed you mentioned 88-90mph on the highway. I am not trying to be a jerk but be very careful, cops eat Evo's with tickets. Depending on where you are/how much of a jerk they are at the time ticket you for something else. The first day I got my Evo, I was driving exactly the speed limit but a cop (parked in gas station parking lot) got right behind me and I suppose ran my plates. It happened many times thereafter. Enjoy that Evo, they are completely different animals with a tune. Be safe!
Thanks for the Feedback!
Thanks for the input, I have a Valentine One radar detector that saved me a couple of times today. The thing I am noticing about this car is, EVERYONE wants a race, gets a lot of attention, both good and bad-cops..., As far as the people that are trying to get in touch with Mellon, I spoke to him and he is reading this tonight. Chris, its OK to upload the whp graphs of todays tune if you want to.
Not trying hard enough then...
If you have AIM, mellontuning
If you have PM, well thats obvious
If you have internet access, www.mellontuning.com

I'm in CO and it's not too bad, but there are a lot of ricers out there who like to provoke at times, especially high schoolers (no offense for ne of you in HS). I ended up taking my wing off just so I wouldn't stick out in traffic like a sore thumb. But yes, unfortunately, I must agree with the fact that what ever you decide to do with your Evo, it's going to attract a lot of attention regardless. That's the nature of the beast, but I love it@!!!!!

hey Eric, glad to hear you're loving the new found power/gas mileage. While we're tuning and incrementally increasing the performance I tend to forget where we started from but when we rolled back to the stock tune for a baseline DLL run it felt sooooo flat and really quit pulling after 5500 or so. DLL didn't look that horrible but it sure did feel weak. When we rolled back to the new Mellon Tune and it pressed my head back into the seat it really reminded me of how far we came.
It was very cool to meet you in person and see that gorgeous car. I hope to see ya again when the cams get done but if not we can always do a flash ROM to dialit in as alternative. Also feel free to send me some logs between now and then if you want me to check in on the tune since you're back to your home with your fuel/altitude etc...just to make absolutely sure the tune is perfect.
here's the before and after on Eric's tune.
