Count your blessings. In Florida, a friend got a tint ticket for each window. That would suck. The tint ticket and the registration should be easy fix it tickets, just show the court your registration.

are u in Florida?? check the laws. FL does not do emissions so u can run any exhaust u want hence all the straight pipe domestics in the Miami area. if ur in west palm then any car that is not luxury will be harassed & no it's not bcuz ur asian but partially bcuz u own an evo. every single major sports car owner goes thru some kind of harassment (unless they are an attorney) & u got cops hating bcuz they don't get paid enuff to drive something nice. + don't forget the negative stigma of street racing & from the the crapp FnF movies...

^he's right. MDPD will not bother you with exhaust tickets. The further you go north is when they'll ride you like a pony at a fair ground. Oh, and pinecrest also. Police there are from Hitlers army.

power trip. fast car. young kid? (under 30)

Thats how it works. Prove the exhaust is DOT legal if it actually is. Ask him for proof that tint was to dark ( In PA tint meters are illegal to use in the court of law) and finally if you had proof of registration there is absolutely NO time limit on how long it takes you to find it. If you wanted to be a ***** and known he was going to be one, you should have driven for like 8 miles till you got bored and when finally approached say " i wanted to find a safe, well lit area that is surrounded by the public, never know who is acutally pulling you over"

I am glad that MOST cops here in PA are cool.. you have a few locals and of course the park rangers who think they are steven segal.

Best bet...

Make exhaust legal, take tint off front windows where i am sure its to dark, and go to court with a big smile.... did he ticket you?

Sorry did not read everyones responses.

here's the FL tint rules:

http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/FL/

it is also possible that cops are using this noise statute for mufflers. there is an actual muffler statute in FL for mufflers but it applies to boats only.

Florida Statutes

316.3048 Operation of radios or other mechanical soundmaking devices or instruments in vehicles; exemptions.--
  1. It is unlawful for any person operating or occupying a motor vehicle on a street or highway to operate or amplify the sound produced by a radio, tape player, or other mechanical soundmaking device or instrument from within the motor vehicle so that the sound is:
    1. Plainly audible at a distance of 100 feet or more from the motor vehicle; or
    2. Louder than necessary for the convenient hearing by persons inside the vehicle in areas adjoining churches, schools, or hospitals.
  2. The provisions of this section shall not apply to any law enforcement motor vehicle equipped with any communication device necessary in the performance of law enforcement duties or to any emergency vehicle equipped with any communication device necessary in the performance of any emergency procedures.
  3. The provisions of this section do not apply to motor vehicles for business or political purposes, which in the normal course of conducting such business use soundmaking devices. The provisions of this subsection shall not be deemed to prevent local authorities, with respect to streets and highways under their jurisdiction and within the reasonable exercise of the police power, from regulating the time and manner in which such business may be operated.
  4. The provisions of this section do not apply to the noise made by a horn or other warning device required or permitted by s. 316.271. The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles shall promulgate rules defining 'plainly audible' and establish standards regarding how sound should be measured by law enforcement personnel who enforce the provisions of this section.
here is the FL law on tampering with air pollution control equipment (exhaust):
