buying new car, thinking of an evo.

so now i drive a 2000 audi s4, its a stg 2 with around 340hp. its an amazing car and i normally wouldnt think of getting anything else except its pretty unreliable and very expensive to fix. i live in the mountains so during the winter im driving on snow almost 100% of the time, and in the summers there are lots of bumpy, twisty roads, the s4 does extremely well when its smoother, but when you hit bumpy stuff, things break, ive had to replace the front bumper 3 times cause it explodes if it scrapes, and it costs alot too. plus i feel guilty taking a pretty luxourios audi over such crappy terrain, its just not a place where you want a low somewhat heavy, expensive european car, evo's and sti's are perfect for this place. ive driven an evo, sti, r32, etc. and the evo was the most fun out of them all. the r32 was too slow, especially at high elevation, the sti felt suprisingly heavy for such a small car, like the body roll felt the same as with my s4, and it had a somewhat disconnected feeling, which i didnt like.
the evo just seems like such a better car. the only thing i dont like is that it is downgrading alot when it comes to the interior. and it still seemed like i got that disconnected feeling when it came to handling, with the s4 you can feel everything, and you know what the car is doing or going to do all the time. i didnt get this as much with the evo. though mabye its just something you need to get used to. i race shifter karts in the summer so im a ***** about how the car feels.
i was also thinking of a legacy gt. they are pretty damn fast stock, and its kinda subaru's version of an s4, same stock 1/4 mile time, 0-60, pretty luxorious, and the overall shape and looks is similar. its just much tougher than an s4.

so if you were me would you choose an evo, keep the s4, or mabye go with a legacy gt?

and can someone tell me how reliable evo's are? i know for sure its gonna be better than the s4, but its still kinda important to me.

The Evo is certainly the best handling car out of the ones you listed on good surfaces. It has the best feel, best steering, etc. I might say that the STI handles the bumpy stuff better...

But the Legacy GT might just be the best bet for you. It won't have the handling of the Evo or STI, but it's much nicer than either, more on par with the S4 in that area.

yeah i just cant decide if i want just a fun only car right now or not. coming from an s4, i was constantly worrying about things, like i would freak out if i got a tiny scratch somewhere, i would always be thinking about breaking something, or messing up the cars looks in any way. and im worried ill be this way with the legacy. and the evo is more of a "beater" my friends friend has an 03, and its pretty beat up, and always dirty, and honestly i like the looks of it better that way, i definatly want a car i can use, rather than baby.
can anyone give some info on how it handles snow and dirt? its an evo so i know it will be pretty damn good, but what are the ups and downs?

no i for sure am gonna get an awd car, ive thought about trucks and suv's and its not for me. i dont want an evo to trash it, its just my s4 cant take as much, and on a car like that, any little dent looks like crap. i still will care about dents and stuff, its mostly the "toughness" i want.

If you get an EVO you will wonder why you didn't get one sooner!

if you just need a car to not worry about as much as the s4 then get a sti i read that you said you have driven one and dident care for it as much but its got more of the luxourios that you are use to and its still awd and does great in the snow so y dont you try it if your not going out for all out performance then there are other awd choices my 2 cents

you should drive test an evo and see how you'll like it. Evos are awd.

Get an Outback (Impreza or Legacy) or an Audi Allroad IMO. The are more on par with what you seem to be doing. More "plasticy" body parts that will resist scuffs/scratches. The Evo is a great car for what you are talking about, but with full painted bumpers you will probably worry about scratches again

choose the evo, ditch the s4 even though i like them too, like you said "to expensive to fix" or the legacy gt....

Or choose the evo, and keep the s4...

Anyways it doesn't matter all these cars are gonna be expensive to fix no matter what...

there imports and euro cars and parts are gonna be expensive...

my .02 cents
