Hello all, I am new here and new to evo's. Current cars are 2 classic shape impreza's, one is used for my project the other is my daily driver that will be sold soon. And hopefully replaced by a nice evo8 or 9. I already saw some nice evo's for sale here.

The car will be modded to 550-600hp and used daily, which is the better platform 8 or 9?

 

fot that high whp 2005 and up, won't matter. Where you from?

 

I am from the Netherlands. I live in the capital, Amsterdam. What is the diffence with a 2004 and a 2005 evo 8? known issues?

 

Best bet the 9 ,because the revised transmission. The MIVEC is great ,but when you start change the Cams it will equal it out with the 8.
Now between the 04 -05 in EU i do not think is any signifficant difference . But here in the states from 05, the evos got ACD and front LSD/i know it funny /. Also the 10.5 hot side on the turbo. so i'm not sure there the 04 -05 got the same hotside. That is why i said from 05. so you get the bigger hotside for sure.

Thanks for the info, I will be buying a evo from the states, most likely from someone on here I have 3 potential cars in mind, a 04, 05 and a 06.

So when I put a lsd in a 04 it will be as good as a 05 but without acd? Is acd really worthwile to go for a 05 instead of 04? Is there a big difference in handling?

 

i had an 04 Evo 8 and now i have an 06 Evo RS .
yes there is a big difference on track. specially with high whp numbers.
i assume the 05 handles like the 06.

 

do you aware we dont have the s-ayc?Also our cars tuned different then the EU ones? You might running into trouble to legalize it there? /making street legal/
just make sure you know this!

I know about the s-ayc I don't mind not having it, when I import the car I will have it retuned for the fuel here. Legalisation is no problem, we can import any car from anywhere

 

that is awsome! my friend got problem in Hungary to import from Japan or USA. They got unreal extra taxes!

 

I have to pay like $9000 on tax for a 05 and we have the shipping and handling cost of $1800 approx. On a 06 it is $10.000+ on tax :S

 

yep that is right on . I think if you go with polish shipping company they will bring your car there around $800. Look around.

 

The shipping cost is $1000, but the handling here in the port is costing another $800.

 

Netherlands huh? i got stuck in Amsterdam because of your stupid airport rules....j/k, on a serious note, if you are going to keep this as a daily driver(if you do not plan on changing the stock recaros) i would recommend a 9 because the seats are MUCH better
