2002 Lancer OZ Rally Edition

Can anyone tell me the known problems to this model of the lancer?

I'm deciding between getting a Subaru WRX or a Lancer. Lancers are cheaper, but don't have AWD from what I'm seeing.

I'd like to know what mechanical problems the Lancers have. Thanks in advance.

are you looking for an evo? or just a lancer, like metioned before the lancer and WRX are not even in the same league unless it's a evo. if those are the choices you have to go with then I'd go for the WRX or save up for an evo

Looking at a Lancer or WRX.

Purpose: Commute to college while still having a sporty looking car. Always been a Mits type of guy. Something with good gas mileage, but prefer AWD. It's about a 30 mile drive to the university.

Get the wrx dude, regular lancers (no offense anyone) are very dull, and IMO not sporty.

^ They can be, very dependent on color & year IMO. I myself don't like the '05s &'06s.
I had an '03 OZ. The only problem that I had w/that was the climate control (heat/air conditioning dial) would get stuck & have to be forced, almost to the point of breaking. This was do to the cheap plastics that fit together. I got it fixed for about $300, Mitsu wanted $800. I liked my OZ, but it definitely wasn't that fast (faster than a civic, yes).
If price isn't that big of an issue, go for the WRX - it's faster & has AWD for the snow. I don't like the looks as much though.

Also, if you do choose a Lancer, go for an OZ, not an ES or LS. The OZ interior is a slight upgrade from those. The dash & trim is one color, instead of a weird 2-tone. The seats are also a little nicer.

you said you want awd, get the wrx. There is no comparison between the two. The wrx is faster and handles a lot better, or you could buy a used honda and save your money so when you graduate you can buy an evo. well worth the wait IMO
