hey all my friend said that to get 500+hp in an evo 8 that I would have to have Illegal parts? i say lies. can you guys give me some info please thanks

Man you live in Califonia just like I do, and the only way to put aftermarket parts on the Evo and still smog it is if they are CARB legal. I don't know of a single part for the Evo that has a CARB exemption # for it with the exception of a drop in a/f. So your friend is pretty much right unless you want to build a race car and never have it on the street. I know of no legal parts that you can buy that will give you 500 hp. I am well versed in the smog program too so I am pretty certain on this issue. You want that much power you have to go with cams, different turbo, intercooler, manifold and other things and that stuff isn't legal. You can thank California's ultra strict smog program for that.

 

Ok any parts that u put on a car to make it go faster is illegal in CA. A exaust is illegal. Now i have 316whp and it is all illegal but have i got a ticket no. If ur car is not really loud and as long as u don't drive like some young kid then u won't get a ticket for it. But yea i thought every one new that if u look at the parts they all say for off road only that means not on the street. In less they have a carb sticker wich good luck with that. If u want to make a stock car faster it is going to be illegal

 

:O thats crazy I am going to get an evo 8 because its a hell of a lot cheaper than a 9 =b but ya that sucks o well ) I guess 300hp is fine with me i got 286 hp Camry so im almost there =)

Is that whp or engine HP? U are talking about engine Hp it looks like not whp. The VIII has about 230-235 whp stock not 300. But yea u will love the evo
