im going to purchase an exhaust system, but have not decided on which brand to get. does it make a big difference on which brand you get
right now im looking at the HKS or Megan

 

Its hard to say.I have a HKS Hi Power exhaust and love it.I don't know how well megan products are put together so I can't give an honest answer.You may want to search and see if there are any threads about the HKS and Megans exhausts.

I have the Tanabe Medalion Concept G Blue exhaust with cat delete and 3" downpipe. Sounds awesome. Sounds super sweet at idle (especially with my cams making it lope), and its not too loud at normal acceleration. But when that wastegate opens up, holy hell! Wake the neighbors and hide the children, because everyone for 4 blocks will know you are coming. Tanabe also has a few clips of their exhaust sounds on their website (although only the touring exhaust for the EVO, but you should get a rough idea). the megan sounds fine and fits fine, its cheap just pick it up and dont think twice.... but the ets 3.5inch is baller!

 

I went with the AMS, expensive compaired to ebay but worth the money for the easy fit and sound

Megan or Buschur IMO.

 

so basically what it comes down to is which one makes the loudest noise
not which one give you more whp

 

also i read about the hks coming up short to the rear bumper

some exhaust are louder than others but they all give you about the same power as long as it's 3inch good luck with your search HKS & MEGAN are pretty good exhaust

 

HKS isn't 3". It tapers. It also isn't that loud really. Megan is moderately loud, but nothing like the Bushur bullet exhaust.

I'm not sure why you'd want an overly loud exhaust. Most guys try to quiet their exhaust down to draw less attention to themselves. You bought an Evo for power, not noise correct? If you go full 3" TBE (with test pipe), it'll be loud. Trust me. If you want power on a budge, you should really just get an MBC and a tune.
