4th is weaker due to the fact that its smaller. And the tranny is more compact because for the extra gear so less oil makes its way around the tranny. How fast it goes depends how you drive it and what your doing with it. Road racing usually kills it cause the transmission heats up alot.

oh if i was to trade mine in then i was thinkinking at the most IC piping with an intake, catback, a BC at stock boost and maybe cams but really small ones like S1s or hks 264s, and what if i change the tranny fluid once to three times a year

no matter what car you drive, wether its 10k or a 100k. if you beat on it for no reason like your paul walker, its going to wear and break faster.

EVO & EVO RS EVO MR
1st: 2.785:1 1st: 2.909:1
2nd: 1.950:1 2nd: 1.944:1
3rd: 1.444:1 3rd: 1.434:1
4th: 1.096:1 4th: 1.100:1
5th: 0.761:1 5th: 0.868:1
Final drive: 4.529:1 6th: 0.693:1

so is the 4th gear that much smaller? looks to me like 5th is the smaller gear, so it would go out or is it just the guys that cant afford the MR that talk **** about it

The diameter isn't the difference, it's the width of the gear itself. Nothing to do with the ratio.

And, as mentioned, it's only a problem if you track the car regularly with insufficient cooling to the transmission. The 6-speed is a great transmission and would still be my choice on the track. However, it demands the addition of an external cooler ... the passive fins are simply not enough for that type of punishment.

4th gear cracking / fracture problems are not that common. I've heard of less than 5 cases ever and 1 of them was a friend of mine.

He now has a built stg 2 or 3 TRE 6 speed with a Shep t-case. I think it's all stock ratios but shot peened gears and probably some other modifications. I think this may have been the first built 6 speed done.
