Talking Noob from Central Florida

What's up guys, i just joined the forum yesterday to read up on some useful information and get to know some new people, Most people from CF know me from Orlando Forums as CJ. So lmk if you know who i am.

I'm 17 years old, my first car was a 91 Prelude Si, then i got a 93 Civic Si Hatch with an LS/VTEC motor and i sold those two because my license got Restricted (to and from work and school) for a year 10/8/07-10/8/08 from tickets i got in the hatch I daily drive a 93 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 for now. In October i will be getting my license back and getting a new car.

I do have a job and have been saving up money to put a DP on an EVO, idk which one i want yet the 8 or the 9 or what models but my parents are gonna help me with my purchase. And FYI im not an immature "kid" nor an illegible speller i know a decent amount about motors/cars So please don't bash me... just here to make friends and learn some new things.

Thanks For Reading

That is yet to be seen. Not lumping you with the rest of them, but literally every underage member says the same thing.

Welcome to the boards though, and good luck with your plans. Insurance is going to suck ***** for you if you end up getting an Evo, especially considering your age and driving record, which won't go away for a while.

Thanks for your input, but i have people on orlando forums that can vouch for me, im not a noob to "forums" I've been on forums since 2004 and never really got in to misspelling words or taking shortcuts and stuff, I'm a straight up guy.

I know insurance is gonna be high, i have a great paying job and my only bills will be car payment, insurance, cellphone, and gas.

^ Not trying to bicker, but what is this "great paying job" that you have at 17 that allows you to save up for a reasonable down payment, monthly car payment (which will more than likely be anything between $300-600, depending on the price of the Evo), insurance (which will more than likely be north of $200 per month for someone your age with your driving record with an Evo) and gas (which will be at least $150 per month, depending on how much you drive), all while going to school? And let's not forget about maintenance

Like I said, I'm not trying to shoot you down or anything, but there's a lot to consider financially when buying a car like an Evo, especially at your age. It's definitely a lot of car for the money, but it takes a lot to keep it running properly. I couldn't imagine affording to buy and maintain an Evo at 17, and I had a nighttime job while going to school.

PC DATA, i make upwards of $600 a week about 1150 every two weeks. And my parents help out some what, Gas money isn't a problem for me, i fill my tank up to full every week in my truck ( every Tuesday) Maintenance won't be a problem seeing that i live in a town where 4 of my best friends own evo's and 2 have shops so i can get their help if needed to take care of the evo when i don't have time. And im only looking to spend 19-22k for a completely stock evo 8 cause the 9 is a little bit to much for my budget.

If you had that many tickets in your hatch, I hate to see how many you will have in a evo. I'm not trying to bash you, but if you get a evo, you need to grow up a bit and not do things to get tickets. Good luck with your purchase.

Keep in mind that was a year ago when I had my hatch and it was only 4 tickets one I took the online school for and the rest accumulated to six points which was over the limit for a 16 year old. and I have matured since then, I haven't had a ticket since October and I drive every day to school and work. I will drive the evo carefully and hopefully not ruin what I've been waiting for for a year.

"A year ago" isn't that long, plus it represents over half of the time you've been driving. Unfortunately neither the DMV nor insurance companies give you a completely clean slate. Six points is a pretty big deal

While we're glad to hear that you've "matured" (always a good thing to say about yourself), not getting a ticket since October (roughly six months) is cool but still not a big deal, and it won't get you off the hook just yet.

Like we said before, we're not trying to attack you or shrug you off because of your age, but it's not as simple of a situation as you think.

I have a friend that is 20 and got his Evo he always wanted (used and 20 grand). With insurance and a driving record that is not as bad as yours he is paying 1000/month. He has the best insurance you can get as well USAA.
I would love top see everyone get the car of their dreams so go for it, but know what it really takes.
Come to Proccolino's sat nights at around 9:30 say hi and check out the cars and the options. A guy on here named KERR is selling his stock 8 for around 19 I think.
