Lightbulb Is it safe to run 22 PSI??

I've had my Evo 9 for about a year now. And I also live in So Cal. I have a boost gauge in my car and I notice alot of the time it only runs 16-19 psi. And on rare times when it is actually cold it runs 21-22 psi. I know that the car adjusts boost depending on air temp and so forth, but would it be safe to run 22 psi all the time? Isn't there a reason why Mitsu built the car to lower and taper the boost pressure?? My question that I have for my evo is that is it safe to run 22 psi from using a boost controller or a tune, like the Cobb Tuning Accessport??? Would this cause my Evo to not be as reliable/last as long? Any help with this question would be great!!

Yes as long as you're tuned correctly

I have a Invidia testpipe, Greddy TiC catback exhaust, injen intercooler piping and the Injen intake. I'm planning on getting a DP, bigger intercooler, and Cobb Accessport!

The cobb accessport is expensive for nothing... The only benefit is if you don't have a laptop...

A E-flash tune is setup custom for your car and costs much less money than the AP unit.

Back to the thread.... Without a tune i wouldnt run more than 19-20psi until you have a proper tune on there. Better safe than sorry =-)

If any of you guys are interested in getting tuned, I have everything necessary for a tune. In a couple months i'll be offering laptop rentals as well to offer an even better service than i already am =-)

Cheers!

Whether it's safe or not will depend on what you'll see in your logs. I wouldn't trust anyone's tune without logging it. I'd suggest installing a MBC and getting a tune from someone who'll be responsive to your concerns. If you're looking for safety, which BTW is my personal, main concern, then make sure to specify it, but don't trust anything without confirming it yourself. If you run a relatively conservative 20-21PSI with a MBC on 93, you'll see less boost taper, earlier spool, a noticeable increase in power, and a margin of safety with an appropriate tune.
