yes, the IX responds even better to mods than a VIII does. but if you're planning on getting involved in the full evo experience (i.e. working on it... a lot) then it makes no difference.

anyone will tell you it's IX (mivec + better turbo) > '05 VIII (10.5 hotside) > '04/'03

and for the record, i wanted black/black too and searched for 5 months before finding my black '05 w/ delicious black leather interior. i'm perfectly happy.
The Interior and Drive also matter to me as well. If I'm putting my money into this I want the best I can find but I don't want to have to wait 2 years and then look back and go why did I pass up on 2 black on black Evo8's.

Which is where this post began.

Hrmm. I expanded to MD, Virginia, Mass, CT, RI and still came back with no luck there either.

Ohio with gas as it may be right now is just not an open option unless its a Dealer which would be willing to ship the car here.

What were you using to search for the cars?

Just did a national car finder lookup for Black MR and 1 dealership in NV has 3 apparently (which is skeptical) to say the least. Nothing east of NV though.

I think the answer is simple - how bad do you want it NOW?
If you do - just get an 8 locally or get a 9 from a different state/area.
If you can wait, do that, i guess, but there's always something better that can come along, as goes the argument, so you can get stuck waiting forever. Just get an Evo already!

I could walk away with either Evo VIII anytime I want since neither look like their getting purchased here. I really do want one my TL is great but its too slow for my tastes.

I was considering buying a new Mazdaspeed3 (i know i know) but then it just started hitting me what am I thinking for the same price i can get an Evo and be much much happier. Problem is finding said Evo

Some people dont like that black seats in the 9s or that crappy leater, its all a matter of opinions...

The 05 Evo8 RS is the best in my book...

Get an IX - it's newer, has MIVEC and has a IX front bumper which most VIII owner's who want to be IX's change out anyways...

Most VIII's ive seen are poorly taken care of- have peeling brembo brakes and higher mileage than a mint IX.

Save for a black IX.

That's what I did. I searched for MONTHS but found by low mileage stock baby just north of me in black and its a IX

evo 8/9 interiors are 98% the same. not sure what you mean by "drive" but if you mean handling they're the same unless you have an MR (bilsteins)

hahaha...even though it may appear so...the 2% in differences between the 8 and the 9 is well worth the change...The seats alone in the 9s makes up a big change in the car...unless one has the SSL package on the 8 which then will be the same as the SSL on the 9...the 9 also have a carbon insert on the dash...which makes it tons better vs. the lack of in the 8...and the difference in steering wheel...so in a way the 2% goes a long way...

Hrmmm the one in West Chester is intriguing. I might have to call them. I don't want a car with 20,000 miles with mods thats not a good sign to me. The one with just intake is intriguing though (I don't normally trust ebay but it looks legit).

i guess... i just got the rexpeed carbon dash trim for $150 and it looks better than the oem... but the black steering wheel is nice, i'll give you that! that's it though...

no right to complain about interior differences when you can swap out the stuff easily... only selling points in the IX to me are mivec and the turbo... everything else is just extra.
