evo tuning limitations/how ecu operates

i'm new to evo's but not new to tuning turbo charged cars.
i need to know silly little things about the way the evo ecu operates!
i.e the majority of other ecu's using narrowband lambda will ignore
the signals from it when on high load/WOT is the evo ecu the same?
how is load determind? via the maf?
if i want to increase boost say with a apexi what else would i need
to do? provided i can supply more boost and digest it in and out at reasonable charge temps without knock etc etc.
i assume that the fuel map is compensated from what info the maf has too?
i.e if my boost is higher then more airflow must result which the maf should see and the ecu will add more fuel to the base map to compensate and hopefully
have afr's about right?
