evo 9 motor

i was looking around online to try 2 see how much it would cost to replace the engine in my evo 8.(see other post for reason if not read already.) and i cant find a new evo 8 motor. but on lancershop.com there is a evo9 motor. well it fit in the evo 8. from what i read the only difference between the 8 and 9 is a few options and more power from the factory. is this true? since ithink the entire motor needs to be replaced this might be a cost effective route rather then having the block honed, if it can be salvaged, and other peiced bought.
thanks alot,
b

We have some VERY LOW mileage evo VIII motors in stock that you could drop in. I would even credit you back if your block was salvageable.. PM me for some details. I wouldnt switch to the IX motor if i were you. I do have a 7k mile IX motor in stock if you were dead set on changing it.. LMK

Very easy to do. Just plug the rear Mivec feed port and use the 9 block.

YEah but its not simple if he is looking to actually run mivec which is why he mentioned more power from the IX.. Making it work is not easy nor cost effective solution to replacing an VIII motor. Thats the reason i wouldnt suggest it..

I am putting a IX engine into an VIII. I had to find a IX complete wiring harness, and ecu which was the hardest part. With the engine out it was pretty easy to replace the VIII wiring harness with the IX.

My sig has a link to my build, not really much info though. I just intalled the IX wiring, Nick at DTM did the engine install.

Just stick with a evo 8 motor and save money.

+1

In many ways, I wish I had an 03-04 Evo VIII. No ACD and no MIVEC. I'm not a fan of either, but it works. I guess I liked the old Evos before all the electronic gimicks started taking over.

A VIII motor swap will be more cost effective.
