It really depends on wich class you plan on running.

AS, STU will likely benefit from a IX as the modification restrictions are higher and any extra you could get from the factory is in your advantage.

BSP, SM, XP where you are less limimited in modifications, an ACD era VIII with front/center/rear diff will be the ticket to keep cost down on the initial purchase and save the extra for mods.

For what it's worth there are VIIIs and IXs contending and winning at the highest level of the sport; level of preperation and driver skills is what gonna determine your degree of succes, not the model.

Definitely get an 8 MR, because that's what I have and that's the best one out there (do you see a trend here?)

The 8's are old. 9's are the last true Evo's - therefore more of a rarity.

Which would you prefer?

IX FTW!

Thanks for all the input.

For a better price range, im looking to spend no more than $23K. I work in the industry so I should be able to find one for really cheap.

Also to make it clear this is going to be more of a driver/track car, not fully track.

Any additional input on mods, tweaks and specfic models to look at is greatly appreciaited. Like i said im new to evos and dont know **** about them but if you guys have any questions on ferraris, lambos, porsches, maseratis, or lotus, i can be more than helpfull in answering your questions.

When it comes to Evos, I wouldn't buy one just because the price is right! I would spend the extra money, but to buy an Evo that was taken care of and not abused. Do your research, otherwise you may end up paying much more that you have saved on the car itself. Good luck and of course the IX is your choice

If you dont want to spend more than 23k get an 8, I don't think you can find a 9 that low(I could be wrong). Also check my signature is an 8 daily driver
