How fast are B5 S4s? I'm not My friend has an S4 with a 3" TBE, and chip.. SUPPOSEDLY thats it. How much power is it making, and what would it take to beat it? I have a completely stock Evo as it is right now, but I'm slowly modding. Thanks in advance EvoM.

 

simple bolt ons and cams with good tune. S4s are very heavy compared to their huuuuuge engines. they slow dude. LMAO.

 

tell him to race a well-moddified evo and say something again. not to mention that my friend has an rs-4 with a custom supercharger. kthxbai

 

I had an S4 with APR chip (91 oct., 93 oct., and Valet mode), and AWE Tuning Twin 2 exhaust w/ downpipes.


Basically what S4 guys call a Stage 2 setup.


These cars typically dyno just right around 300 awhp on a Mustang dyno and about 330 awtq.

Considering the S4's weight as previously mentioned (3500 lbs+) a basically modified Evo will be faster.


K04 upgraded S4's dyno around 360 - 370awhp (on 93 pump) and about the same torque.

They run mid to high 11's at 120-123 mph.


Only recently have guys run hybrid RS6 turbos, Garrett GT28's, and I believe TiAL has just released a bolt on turbo kit.

 

HTA35r? 2.0L+HTA35r should be comparable to his BIG S4

What makes a stage 3 S4 so much faster than that Evo? Isnt it so much heavier?

 

So only builds totalling in 6 figures count as well-modified??


Only about 500lbs heavier.

 

So what does a "Stage 3" S4 consist of?

 

European turbos (off a Rs4)
TBE
Fueling upgrade (injectors, tune, etc.)
Intercooler upgrade

thats about it

 

edit - can't recall what mine dyno'd, been awhile since I had the car. But, had the MTM setup on it, stock turbos.

top end, he will likely walk you, to 60, they are not all that quick

 

What gives them the top end advantage?

 

unless he has upgraded turbos you can smoke him.
even then, if you had a cam'd evo you'd still probably put up a damn good fight if not win.

I love how they are all like, dude I'm stage 3....well...whats stage 3 mean? whats a stage 3 evo?
I could have like a TBE, a tune, and like a shortshifter and be like. duuude I'm so stage 3 right now. cant even mess. Stages don't matter for crap, its the actual modifications on the car that matter. Stages are just for dumb kids who don't know what kind of parts go on their car.

My brother used to have one. Beautiful cars. A chip/tbe is enough to make them quite quick too. And I know I'll take a lot of heat for this, but at the end of the day, it's just plain a nicer car than the Evo IMO.
