ive gone thru like 2
ACTHDSS + street disc.... lasted half a year and a quarter of that it was slipping
ACT Xtreme PP + 6 puck sprung... exploded... what more has to be said...

High RPM lockout on both... both clutches had me spend a lil over 1000 bills in labor when i finally jus went out an bought a Exedy Twin
or even better... buy a hyrdaulic style clutch or even a push...
I have a 2600 in mine, and yes it holds the power fine (almost 300 ft/lbs on a mustang dyno), however if you ever want to race the car at the track (or even some spirited driving), go with a twin disk as mentioned. I get locked out a high RPM pretty much every gear. I need to remove the cluth pill, put in a SS line, and try adjusting it, which should help. I would recommend anyone getting this clutch to do the same! For the money, it is not bad, however if you can get a twin (or triple!!) from the start, do it!

Edit: Cliff notes - If you plan on doing any kind of racing, go with a twin. If this is just your DD and can't afford a twin, then this is not a bad clutch as long as you don't plan on doing any racing!

I've heard that the ACT Street isn't a pure racing clutch either, but instead it's a clutch with the balance of high-performance driving and daily driving....Therefore, it worked for me. I was told that twin-plate clutches, such as the Exedy, are best suited for pure racing and hard launches time and time again. But the Exedy is about twice the money and it does not have the smoothness of the ACT Street..

An Exedy is made for the track only IMO. Not a DD clutch. ACT is a well rounded clutch that performs on the street and at the track. My friend has done A LOT of launching with his ACT 2900 and street disc at the track and on the street and hasn't had one complaint.

I have a number of friends who DD cars with twin disk clutchs (Exedy, Quartermaster, etc), and do not mind it. You have to rev it a bit more, but not too bad. I would not say they are race only. IMHO, YMMV.

I had my ACT Street Clutch/Streetlite flywheel installed about a week ago and I officially want to say that I have no regrets whatsoever. The clutch is awesome. It took some getting used to at first, but I absolutely love it now. I race my car and I daily drive my car. No need to spend the extra money when you will be 100% happy with the ACT Street Clutch/Streetlite flywheel.

Plus I'm not gonna be doing a bunch of mods any time soon so the street clutch and flywheel will do plenty for me right now. Most power I'm looking to make over the next year is about 375-400whp.
i had this clutch installed and it blew in a few months from the track and launching hard to get good 60 foots.... my car only makes 330whp... bought the act 6 puck sprung and it held great.. guess it depends on how you drive and if you race. i love the 6 puck, its my daily driver and im so used to it

Well my friend is around 500 hp on the 2900 with street disc with no regrets. Going to be ordering the ACT 2900 w/ street disc and Streelite flywheel either this weekend or the next.

Haven't ordered it yet because I had some bills to take care of first but I am still going with the ACT. I have experience with ACT clutches in both DSM's and EVO's and have not seen any reason to stop believing in their quality. When I blow an ACT clutch I'll change my mind.

i've had my 2900 on my evo for almost 40k miles of hard street driving, the occasional stop light launch, and a few laps at a track and its held its own. for the money i can't complain at all. a lot of people bad mouth the act but its solid product for a street driven evo.

Remember you pay for what you get, spend the extra money and order a real clutch like a exedy twin disk, act is great for honda's but not evo's exedy all the way trust me.

This is based on what, your expert opinion ? ACT was here building clutches and setting records on DSM's, and Honda's when Exedy couldn't even be bothered with the market in the U.S. The first Evo here in the U.S to go in the 9's went there using ACT, as well as the first Evo X in the 10's. If ACT wasn't around alot of the folks on here wouldn't have built the reputation they have today.

A lot of people on here like to blame their inability to launch, drive and adjust a clutch on everything and everyone but themselves. Comparing a $500 single disc clutch to a $1400 twin disc clutch is not necessarily the apples to apples comparison some on here like to make it seem that it is. On this forum I have yet to see another clutch company stand behind their product like they do. Are the guys from Exedy here helping you when you have a problem or a question? Anyone can put a banner ad on a forum. It is quite a different thing to come on here and provide answers and try to help resolve problems for customers and potential customers on a dedicated forum like this.

The bottom line is that if you can't drive/launch or think you're the next John Force and try to launch on everyone at every light you're going to burn up the $1400 clutch just as fast as you will the $500 clutch.
