What was the best Evo (not including 4b11)?

I am planning on getting an evo in roughly a year, and just want to hear some honest and informed opinions on which of the evo's, up to the 2008 model, was the best all-around, and maybe some reasons why you think yours is the best. Like which comes standard with most HP? and which has the best clutch, interior, aftermarket, and which has the most problems?
Any info would be much appreciated.
PS Is the new evo good enough of a car to pay a little more for, as I'm sure there will be plenty of used ones in a year going for about the same price as the older model?

What is the best trim for the IX? the MR has the 6 speed I know. Is it better? Are there any other trim levels for the IX?

Why buy an mr then pay for a 5 speed trany? just buy a gsr and put an mr badge on it if its so important. the trany is the biggest difference between the two.

Yes. if you want a lot of power. Just go with the IX SE, the best of both worlds. Good luck on your find.
