I heard the same with the 6 speed (stronger as in can take more abuse). Plus you get 1 mpg worst with the 6 speed...even highway for some reason. I found a SE and called it good. Man your srt-4 looks pretty good. I had one about 6 months ago. I definitely like the Evo a LOT more. I always had traction problems with the srt-4. I really needed to get new tires but it wasn't a car you could just launch at any RPM and go, unless you had really sticky tires. I have left to lose tranaction on Evo, except at night when there was some dew ice on the streets and I was testing corning/braking.

well anyways, welcome and for tranny issue, I've personally knew a guy who change his 6 speed for a five, because he kept ripping fourth gear. he sid he loved the change and the ratio compared to a 6speed. I have a 03 5speed almost 100k and the tranny still going strong just grinding 5gear if fast shifting a common problem with evos, you'll know what I'm talking about soon enough. Nice srt an great numbers, but GO EVO

man i cant believe that there is still an ongoing dispute of which tranny is stronger/better. i used to always hear the 5 spd was better until i joined this site and did some reading. alot of mixed reviews. i think more defending the 6 speed tho. nobody really bad mouths the 5 spd at all. thanks for the compliment. and believe me i know all about traction problems lol. making 452 to the front wheels is not fun. for a while my tuner, (n2mb which i am sure most of you have heard of, the inventor of the WOT BOX) tuned my ems so i had ramped boost in 1st and 2nd gear. well first gear was wategate pressure which i have a 12 lb spring in, still a waste of a gear, and in second it was ramped from 12-25lbs throughout. i actually hooked all thru second on street tires, it was amazing..then i had problems with the stock boost solenoid at the track when under heavy load...i got alot of breaking up from the boost solenoid oscelating. so i purchased the aem solenoid, he came up from fl to tune and we were supposed to hit the track and retune it with the aem solenoid. long story short, didnt have time to put it in. just threw a manual bc on there. ended up running the 11.4 with that setup. never got a chance to throw the solenoid in . i dont have a vid of the 11.4 run. but i do have a vid of a couple a few other 11 second passes. my 11.4 was done the day after this vid and my rents werent there to tape it.

very clean srt, they are fun cars. ive driven one. the mr on autotrader looks like a nice one. the 6 and 5 speed versions are not the same. IX gsr 0-60 stock 4.6. IX MR 0-60 4.9. it was road and track i think tested it. also there is no more top speed between 5spd or 6spd and it gets worse gas mileage. and i heard 6 spd was swapped for 5 as its better. truthfully i have never seen a 6spd get worse mileage than a 5spd unless the 6 spd is crap. thats why i bought what i bought.

MR redlines at 162 or 167 I can't remember which, the 5spd redlines at 155 ish. Since neither has a drag limited top speed the 6 spd is faster. Also All the best 0-60 times for ix's that I saw were done with the MR. Motor Trend got 4.6 with a silver ix MR SE.
It is true that the 5 spd can take more power, but it seams that you can run 400 WHP no problem with the 6.

Looking at the ix gear ratios in sport compact car mag, first is actually taller in the MR, then 2nd, 3rd, and 4th are about the same 5th is shorter, and sixth is taller than fifth on the 5 spd.
