CF Exhaust shield questions

Just picked up an AMS TBE and want to protect my bumper with a CF exhaust shield. Yes, I have searched, but am not finding the specific answers that I need.

Based on what I've read, it seems that the carbign craft is collectively seen as the highest quality piece - saw that Vivid Racing has it listed for $114.74 on the website. Others appear to be going with Authority's shield (~$98) to save some cash.

How is the fit and finish on the carbign piece?

Are there holes pre-drilled in the CF piece?

I'm hoping there aren't holes there since I don't want to drill into the back of my bumper and don't like the rivet look. If there are no holes then it'll look clean if I just use adhesive. I might drill on the underside of the bumper to ensure that it remains secure though.

I believe AMS exhaust clears the bumper and heatshield is not needed. Most glued ones don't work so well, they will come off eventually as they keep getting warmed and cooled over time.

When you say "clear the bumper" do you mean it sticks out far enough or that the distance between the pipe and the oulet on the bumper is enough? To be honest, I think I'd rather have a shield there to protect the bumper from heat .. just in case...

And if the heat is not a concern with the AMS TBE exhaust, then it stands to reason that I'd be okay with using adhesive on the shield I would think. I would fasten it underneath, etc too as I said..

Anyone else chime in on my comments? Are there holes pre-drilled in the carbign piece?

You do not need a heat shield with a AMS exhaust. As you know, it sits perfect. Unless you are running pig rich, your bumper will be fine.

I'd go with the Carbign Craft.

I've had it on my car for nearly 2.5 years and the clear coat finish on it is still smooth and shiny.

You just have to keep it clean and give it an occasionaly coat of wax or application of quick detailer.

Thanks...

It sounds like I don't need to run the shield if I have the AMS exhaust based on some of the responses here. I'd prefer not to run the shield, but thought it was necessary if I cared about the condition of my paint/bumper.

I'll be getting a tune at the same time the AMS TBE goes on, so I assume it won't run too rich and make too much of a mess. Sounds like heat isn't too much of an issue either based on where the exhaust sits.

If you need a Carbon Fiber Heat Shield it won't stay pretty for very long. Mine is BURNT....that's the reason you put it on; to shield the bumper from Flames. You can attach it by screwing it to the bumper from Underneath. 2 Screws at the very bottom away from the edge on each side of the shield will hold it in place and no one will see the screws/holes/etc...does not damage the bumper. If you are highly Tuned on the ragged edge get it, but for modest Tunes...and with the AMS exhaust, it might be a waste.
