EVO IX guy in AZ looking for some answers

Ok, first off I'm new to the forum, but not to the 4G63 fun and power. Former owner of a 99 GSX that I got rid of due to a cracked block due to over boost from a faulty wastegate, and now a owner of a 06 EVO IX.

I'm trying to figure out who had it last. I didn't get much info on it when I bought it since I got it from a dealer. The story from the dealer is that the last guy who had it put 15k into the car, but then traded it in for a G35. The dealership that the EVO was at was a Infinity dealership in Scottsdale Arizona, and this car has enough done to it that someone in AZ should know who it belonged to. The dealership isn't helping me out much with who had it last, so I'm asking the EVO community in AZ if the recognize the car.

I'm going to be gone in January and back in February and will be dropping in a AMS 2.3 stroker and some additional little tweaks and getting it tuned by the guys at Vivid Racing in Gilbert. If ANYONE knows who this belonged to before I got my hands on it, and PMed me, that would be awesome. This car has some ***** to it. I haven't had the chance to get any time slips on it, but it seems to be running 11's or low 12's. I took out a SRT-4 claiming 12's and several other cars that are no slouches in the 1/4. Z28 Cameros, STI's, and several others that really are not worth gloating about.

If anyone knows who this car belonged to before me, and point in the right direction would be awesome.

Name's Ricky.

Hi Ricky,

Welcome to AZ. First things first, I will help you rapidly with your request, there is a AZawd forum that is loaded of Evo, DSM and Subaru owners that best matches your criteria for searching.

One thing, tell Evan from Vividracing I say hi. Are you stationed at Luke AFB?

Carlos

Actually, I've lived in AZ all my life, just got back from Germany and deployment with the Army and moving down to FT Huachucha in Sierra Vista. I'll head over to AZawd and ask around there.

And as soon as I get around to having my fun with my Evo, I'll let Evan know Carlos said hi. lol.

Carlos Evan doesnt work for Vivid anymore. That car is new to me I dont think the owner was ever on AZAWD. Good Luck though im kinda curious on why someone would trade that car in with all those mods for a G35 Take it into a shop and have a compression/Leak Down test done to make sure the motors good

Car and setup does not look familiar Ricky. Congrats on the purchase.

As azturbolancer stated, get it compression/leak down for peace of mind.

The only problem I'm having with it is misfires from dirty injectors. The dealership claimed to have to detune it a few times to get it through emissions. Before they detuned it, the previous owner claimed 500WHP. So yo can see why I want to find out who had it last. I won't have a chance to take it in and get it tuned till about feb/mar time frame since I will be out of the country for jan packing my **** up to move back to AZ for good. So this baby will be sitting in storage collecting parts.

And I did a compression/leak test about 2 days after I got it, so thats good. Gotta replace the throw out bearing, though... I'll do that when I drop the AMS stroker into it.

So, where is everyone going tonight? I wouldn't mind showing my beast off to some other evo's and awd beasts.

Hey bro, that's one of the cars that we modded here at Mynes. It has the following mods:
- Carbonetic Twin Carbon clutch (installed by Vivid)
- Hallman Boost Controller
- Mynes GT3076 turbo kit
- car runs mid-11's in the 1/4 mile
- Previous owner put down 450WHP on our mustang dyno on 25psi on Sunoco 104 octane fuel

Here's what happened to the car:
- previous owner traded it in for an older E55 AMG at Pinnacle Nissan
- Dealership brought the car over to us to unlock the ecu and put the stock mapping on it.. So car is running pump gas and at whatever boost level they decide to put it on..
- They took it to emissions and that's all the info i have..

Feel free to call the shop if you want anymore info.

cheers.
