Okay well i just sold my 99 gsx back a few months ago and i have been looking for an evo to buy. I am trying to decide between a evo8 se or evo 9 se or evo 9 mr. I know there are certain issues with the mr 6speed tranny which kind of makes me edgy to buy one. I am used to the 5 speed from the gsx, which wasnt all that great of a gear box. So really im just trying to get some idea's on which one is the best idea to get. Im not that interested in the looks because all 3 look very similiar. Im just looking for performance when adding power. I just want something that will be more reliable. So please leave your opinions. Thanks

 

I'm pretty sure they didn't make an Evo 8 SE. If your going for big power 400WHP+ I say go with a 5spd. If not it's really up to you whether you want the 6spd or not. Yea the 6 spd keeps RPM's lower when driving on the highway but its not by much. This is only MY opinion, others may think differently.

The main difference between the 8's and 9's other than the exterior is the 9's have Mivec and the 8's don't.
