new girl from western carolina
Hi guys, just thought i would drop in an introduce myself. Im 22 and within the last year have really gotten in to cars, engines.. all the good things about performance and what makes each car unique and fast. For the last 6 or so years I have been driving a '95 hyundai Accent. Tho it sounds crazy she is kinda a beasty.. not really powerful but definitly perfect for the twist in my town with the light weight and a slightly upgraded suspension.
But in the next 4-6 weeks i will be buying my first turbo, awd, performance car.. i chose the 2003 evo 8. I read the newbie thread thanks so much for the advice tho its kinda difficult to find a totally stock evo anymore i know what to look for when buying the even slightly moded out cars. i've already found a few deals around and just waitin for the last of the money situation to resolve. i think the questions i will have are mostly what aftermarket parts work well with others. Ive got most of the basics down so for now i guess im set

Wow sounds like you know more than 60% of the people on here. Congrats on being knowledgeable. It will be a huge help on these cars. Plus be youll able to work on it yourself and with the info that is here you should do great. If you can find the info.
Get rid of the hks, put a stock 8-9 bov on it.
Lastly take someone with you that knows evo's. It can be the difference between getting a good car, and p.o.s.

haha thanks guys
one thing tho.. the evo im lookin at has a few mods including an hks bov.. but reading the evo moddin forum it says that "Aftermarket diverters tend to have partial throttle issues and will never be as daily driving friendly as the stock IX diverter." if i get this car.. should i switch out aftermarket and try to locate the IX bov?

well the lsd would be great considering the .. strange weather here and the road but its really is a bit more on the pricey side the evo im lookin at is sittin at 15k and if i wanna still have extra cash for when i start mods myself the cheaper the better off ill be in the long run.. bein a vet assist isnt a very easy way to bein wealthy lol thanks for the info on the bov's and thanks for the welcomes guys
when i bought my evo used it had around 330whp. the tranny went a couple weeks after i bought it. i had some extra cash laying around so i just got the shep trans stage 2 t-case and exedy twin disk. now i shouldnt have to worry about that stuff again. when you test drive it just drive through all the gears. make sure they dont grind and then obviously feel if the clutch is slipping.
