Hey question!
Hey question!
Im sure this has been answered alot, but the Search engine SUCKS!!!! here goes... hope i dont get whipped my the admins!
I'm trying to look for a list of the most common problems that happens to the 2006 evo 9's.
See, like all asians, i want an evo. But i do not have the time to always figure out how to fix it up all the time. I don't plan to track it, maybe a few autoX or quarter mile runs once in awhile but not often.
are these reliability problems fixable by an average joe like me? i just have the basic tool set to do the simple oil change and brake pad change.
I hope maintenance isn't so hard, is it? just gotta keep up with the oil changes and thats it right? or is there something on turbo engine's that is different?
I think in summary: What does it take to own an Evo??!?!?
I own a 2003 G35 coupe right now and its pretty.....BORING!!!! Need something with more bite.
oh btw, looking at this car right here, is this an RS?

holy hell thats a shiet load!!!
i guess it's off to the dealer for maintenance. as long as there isnt anything that will suddenly cost me a huge chunk of change out of nowhere, than i'm fine.
Friggen infiniti wanted almost 400 bucks for them to change 1 of my HID bulbs on my car. I hope the evo's aint like that..

-Oil changes full synthetic flavor you choose - 3k miles
-transfer case oils - mitsubishi diaqueen - mitsubishiparts.net - 5-10k miles depending on how much you beat it
-transmission fluid 12-15k miles - redline mt90 or amsoil equivalent.
-spark plugs 15-20k for me*.
-when your start modding you will realize all evos have weak stock clutches.
and that pretty much it, i know alot of evo9's have the 4-5th gear grind, which is still drivable and raceable you just can't really jam it or anything.
Other than that its pretty reliable depending on how the previous owner treated it.
