Newbie here Question about Dual Exhaust on 08GTS

hi i have a lancer GTS 2008 and i have a body kit on the way that has a dual diffuser in the back for dual exhausts, i have never owned a 4 cylinder before but i take it that i cant just run 2 HKS mufflers via Y pipe and expect the same performance? that is what i really and initally want to do but i was told i would lose power doing that because of the small power the car has. i was told to get a canister and just run 2 pipes out to make a dual exhaust. if i had to do this how exactly would i do that? how does a canister and running pipes that way work? since i was told i wouldnt lose any power

thanks in advance

I wouldn't think it mattered how you would do it... the more free-flowing your exhaust the better it should be anyway

well ive been told if you run a Y pipe to 2 mufflers on a small engine like the 2.0L lancer that you'll have too much backpressure and actually lose horses or low end power

If their is single pipe, yes two mufflers will create more back pressure. If you put 2 muffler to create a dual exit exhuast, it should make much of difference HP wise (it should create less back pressure). The extra muffler will most likely be asthetic, the extra of piping will just add extra weight.
