oil change

I had oil change done today and the mechanic put in 5 full quarts, they said it should be okay when I told them it shouldve been 4.7. Do I have to worry about this? I hear that its okay if its a little over the recommended amount but I just want to be sure. I searched and couldn't find anything except a short thread on this that didn't really help. Sorry for the super noob question.

Think he meant did they put some in the filter before wrenching it back on or dry filter and simply filling from top a full 5 quarts?
