Thumbs up Proud 2006 Evo IX Owner

Hey guys, I picked up an 06 evo ix a couple weeks ago. It has about 33k and came w/ a couple bolt-ons. The original owner put in a Vishnu reflashed ecu along w/ the exhaust/downpipe/hi-flow cat and an aem intake. I've heard of Vishnu tuning 335i's, but never evo's. Are they reliable? I am tempted to start modding but I had a horrible experience w/ my sc'ed acura cl-s so I dunno about it for now. Where would you guys start? Overall though, the car is a blast. It hauls *** and the awd is flawless in the rain. Any input is appreciated and I hope to be here for a long time

Congratulations on your purchase. I believe Vishnu uses a piggyback (Xede) as opposed to a reflash. Basically, they trip the ECU. They work well, but if you plan to modify, a reflashed/tuned ECU is the way to go. Reputable names like Ecuflash is something you should look into. I believe a customed tuned ECU is the best way to go. Please post pics of your car. Enjoy your stay.

Edit: Just realized they flashed ECUs as well.

Gotcha, I'm not sure if the car is using an Xede or if the ecu has been flashed, is there a way to tell? Thanks for the info btw

Under the sterring wheels, under the glove box, or under the hood in the right corner under all the plastic boxes and all..

Check there for an external ECU.. if its not, then it might jsut be a reflash. Or locate the acual OEM Ecu and check for anything on top of it or watever.

Might just be a reflash.

Vishnu tuned our old 335i `Well, piggyback-ed rather.

Congrats on your purchase! Some consider the IX the pinnacle of the Evo series ( I use to own one, I miss my old car!)

Vishnu used to tune evos in the past not sure if they still do, but i would start modin with the basics, like exhaust, intake, n tune, open it up a bit, the IX make good power with jus those

Dumb question, but I noticed that the lights farthest right/left from the turnsignal don't go on. In other words, there is the turn signal, high beam, and regular headlight, then the light next to that doesn't go on (innermost light on both sides). It can't be just for show right?
