Specifically for the windshield washer fluid. There was no fluid low or anything, just stopped spraying and could hear the pump moving quickly as if there was no fluid resistance. Checked the trunk and it was bone empty. They dont have have a light or anything?!?

 

Nope! I almost wrecked because of it.

A few weeks ago there was an ice storm here, and they salted the hell out of the roads. Every couple minutes I'd need to spray down the windshield to clean off all the @#$% on it. 5 minutes into my trip I realized I was out of fluid.

I still had another 20 minutes to go on the highway. I was pretty much F'd. By the time I made it to somewhere I could pick up some fluid, I could barely see. I was about to pull an Ace Ventura and hang my head out the window.

Ive never owned a car that has had that light. I just check mine every other week.

 

I'm glad it doesn't have a light...LOL I emptied my washer fluid and am glad I dont have to stare at a light because of it

 

Well, it would be nice if a message popped up on the Info Center saying Low. I mean, I guess you just have to guess ?

 

It's a performance car. If I'm using a lot of washer fluid, I simply pop the trunk and check the level of the fluid. What's so hard about that?

No, you don't have to guess, you just check it just as you do the engine oil, coolant level, brake fluid, clutch fluid etc. Many of those don't have lights either.

 

Well, it's a performance car... I guess since it uses gas I should pop the gas cap and check the level of fuel too.

I have owned a lot of cars, and not one has had this feature.

Actually come to think of it this one has all sorts of annoying warnings. Like telling me I need an oil change even though I did it myself 100 miles ago.

What does it matter whether its a performance orientated car or not? A cadillac or an xterra or an evo? Sensors are so easy to implement that it seems if there was another screen on the info screen to display fluid levels of the vehicle like even oil and windshield coolant, then its never in the way to those that run it dry.

Makes me kind of wonder why you would run it dry though. Not like it really holds that much and that little teeny tiny bit of weight in your daily driver or weekend racer is really gonna make a difference. Did you also remove your fluid nozzles, blades, tubing and motors?

Sure.... check it when you fill the tank or change the oil. Wait... its in the trunk, not as convenient. I know... big whoop... but still, if it was in the engine bay like other cars it would be easier to do as convenience when performing maintenance. Unlike now where you have to go to the back of the car, pop the trunk, reach deep into the trunk and check.
